Felton Milteer Sr. quietly passed away on Friday, Sept. 12, 2008 at his home. He was born in Portsmouth, Va. Felton was the son of the late Ponnie Milteer and Sallie Green Milteer. He was predeceased by his wife for over 50 years, Edith C. Milteer and a brother, Luther Milteer Sr.
Felton was a graduate of Booker T. Washington, of Suffolk, Va. He was an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church where he participated in the Men’s Club and was very fond of the youth organizations. After over 30 years of dedicated service, Felton retired from Colonial Stores as a truck driver. He received numerous distinctive safety awards for his commitment to excellence towards workplace safety and safety compliance. Felton was also a devoted member and global advocate of the Mending Heart Association.
He leaves to cherish his memories: three sons, Felton (Phala) Milteer Jr., Maurice (Betty) Milteer, all of Suffolk, and Andre’ (Barbara) Milteer, of Noahville, Texas; two brothers, Curtis (Sarah) Milteer and Eugene (Doretha) Milteer, all of Suffolk; one sister, Lennis Collins, of Suffolk; one brother in-law, Vernon (Alice) Wright, of New York; one sister in-law, Elsie Milteer; two aunts-in-law, Mable Riddick, of Suffolk, and Clara Suzy, of New York; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and devoted friend, Erma Ferebee.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008 at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church, officiated by the Rev. Fr. Joseph N. Green Jr. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 140 Tynes St., Suffolk, Va. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
