A man suspected of stealing top-shelf vodka from several ABC stores around Hampton Roads, including one in Suffolk, turned himself in to Suffolk police late Tuesday.
After seeing news broadcasts of surveillance photos that appeared to show him stealing vodka from a Suffolk liquor store, Keleel Akeem Baron, 25, of Virginia Beach, went to a downtown Suffolk police precinct and told officers that he was the man they were looking for from the news, according to a city press release.
He was interviewed, charged with one count of petit larceny in Suffolk and then taken to the Western Tidewater Regional Jail, where he was being held Wednesday morning on $1,000 bond.
His information was being shared with the other localities where he is suspected of larceny, the release stated.
Video surveillance showed a man matching Baron’s description stuffing a $68 bottle of Ciroc vodka into his pants and leaving the ABC store on Hampton Roads Boulevard on July 17.
While Suffolk police were taking their report, the same subject stole vodka from a Churchland ABC store. And police released separate video of the same subject stealing Gray Goose vodka from a Chesapeake ABC store on July 11.
