A Suffolk man died following a single-vehicle accident Tuesday morning.

Wayland T. Pond III, 74, was pronounced dead at the hospital after the accident which happened at 9:32 a.m. in the 800 block of West Riverview Drive, according to a city press release.

Investigating officers found that Pond “had a possible medical issue while driving.” The vehicle struck a tree in what appeared to be a low-impact collision, the release stated.

The accident remains under investigation.
