A tractor-trailer fire closed part of the Franklin Bypass for about an hour Tuesday morning.
The fire, which was reported at 5:16 a.m., was caused by a blown tire on the tractor-trailer, which caught fire and ignited the load of wood pellets the trailer was carrying, according to a city press release.
One eastbound lane of the bypass, as well as the Route 258 exit, were closed as Suffolk Fire and Rescue crews extinguished the flames. No injuries were reported, according to the press release.
The road reopened at 6:19 a.m.
