A mother and daughter from Colerain, N.C., were killed in a crash Tuesday morning on Whaleyville Boulevard.
Teresa Brooks Brown, 60, and her mother, Bernice Ping Brooks, 84, were traveling in a PT Cruiser driven by Brown in the 8700 block about 8:05 a.m. when it collided with a minivan. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver of the minivan was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries, according to a city press release. His identity was not released Tuesday, but he was determined to be the at-fault driver, and charges are pending following an investigation by the Suffolk Police Department and review by the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
The roadway was closed for about five hours on Tuesday.
