Berma Howell White

Berma Howell White, 84, passed away quietly in her home on Monday, Nov. 26, 2014.
She was the daughter of the Late Rebbie Howell Whitehead and Phillip
Howell.
Mrs. White was a 50-year member of East End Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Nansemond County Training School and Virginia State College. At Virginia State, she became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Phi Chapter. She was a charter member of Epsilon Theta Zeta Chapter in Suffolk.
Mrs. B White, as she was known to her students taught the sixth grade for 34 and a half years in Nansemond County and later in the city of Suffolk.
Berma was married to the late Columbus James White Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory two children a son Columbus J. White Jr. of Suffolk; a daughter Mona Lisa White Cooper (Michael V. Cooper) of Mitchellville, Md.; a grandson, Joseph Cooper; one sister Bertha M. Holland of Suffolk and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
A funeral will be held Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at 1 p.m. at East End Baptist Church, 523 East Washington St. Interment will be in Mount Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery 6100 Holy Neck Road.
