A four-vehicle accident at the intersection of Nansemond Parkway and Sportsmen Boulevard on Monday evening sent two men to the hospital, and at least one of them had life-threatening injuries, according to city officials.
Two of the vehicles collided head-on in the accident, which occurred at 6:54 p.m., according to a press release from Suffolk spokeswoman Diana Klink.
The drivers in the head-on collision, a 41-year-old male and a 56-year-old male were both taken by ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. One, she stated in an email, had serious injuries, and the other had life-threatening injuries.
Klink stated that the men’s names — as well as other details of the accident — were unavailable Monday night.
At 9:15 p.m., both lanes of Nansemond Parkway were shut down at Bennett’s Pasture Road and at Driver Lane, with detour signs in place, while the accident remained under investigation.
