Marie C. Barnes, 64, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010 in her residence. She was a native of Charleston, S.C., and the daughter of the late Elliott and Jessie Mae Calvie.

She attended Suffolk Public Schools and worked at Pond’s Peanut Company for many years.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, David Barnes; two daughters, Annette Madison (Derek) and Deborah Harris, both of Suffolk; two stepdaughters, Evelyn Barnes and Naomi Moore, both of Suffolk; one son, John B. Harris (Tonya), of Suffolk; four stepsons, Morris Jackson (Melissa), David Barnes Jr., David Bush (Loritta), all of Suffolk, and Johnny Barnes, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one sister, Patricia Calvie, of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Robert Lee Jackson, of Baltimore, and Larry Lane, of Suffolk; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 at Greater First Baptist Church Orlando officiated by the Rev. Henry G. Baker. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
