Mamie B. Beamon, 90, of 730 Carolina Road, Suffolk, passed away Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at Nansemond Point Rehabilitation Center. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late Henry Butts and Mamie Edwards Butts. She was born on Feb. 28, 1920. She was predeceased by husband, Louis Norman Beamon, and one son, Henry A. Beamon.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two sons, Louis T. Beamon (Yvonne) and the Rev. Joseph J. Ferguson (Dianette); daughter, Mamie B. Rountree (Wallace “Pete”); three grandchildren, Steve Beamon (Cecila), Sonja R. Stevenson (Andre) and Robin B. Hylton (Wayne); eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
Ms. Beamon will be on view Wednesday, Sept. 1 from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, Sept. 2 in the Rev. Melvin R. Boone Chapel of the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery.
